WASHINGTON, D.C. — At midnight tonight (October 1, 2025) the federal government went into a government shutdown. Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) released the following statement.
“Republicans have full control in Washington: the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate. Their decision to shut down the government is foolish, partisan, and reckless—all to avoid working with Democrats to clean up the mess they caused with their attacks on peoples’ healthcare.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressmembers Chris Deluzio (PA-17), Brendan Boyle (PA-02), and LaMonica McIver (NJ-10) introduced the Rail Passenger Fairness Act to help Amtrak improve on-time performance for passenger train travel across the country. This bill would take on the problem of freight train interference, which happens when freight trains do not follow current law requiring them to provide preference to passenger trains operating on their rail lines.
