A Service Academy graduate himself, Congressman Deluzio has the privilege of nominating qualified Western Pennsylvania students to the United States Service Academies. This page contains detailed information about the nomination and application process. To begin the nomination process, you should first apply directly to the service academy you wish to attend (e.g. the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy). You should then apply for all the nominations for which you may be eligible, including but not limited to: your elected representatives in Congress (check your member of Congress here), your two Senators, and the Vice President of the United States.
To be considered for a congressional nomination from Congressman Deluzio, you must apply through our portal. The application portal will open August 5, 2025, and will close on September 30, 2025.
After you have successfully submitted your application, you will receive an email confirming receipt. You will then be contacted by email with a date and time for your interview by our Service Academy Selection Panel. Interviews will tentatively occur on November 5th (virtually) and November 7th and 8th (in-person in the Pittsburgh area). Selection notifications will be made in December.
The congressional nomination process is highly competitive and one that the Service Academy Selection Panel and Congressman Deluzio takes seriously. Please understand that if you do not receive a nomination from Congressman Deluzio's office, it does not necessarily mean you do not meet academy standards. Rather, it likely reflects the high caliber of candidates who applied for a very limited number of nominations.
