Internships

Complete and submit this form to apply to serve as an intern in Congressman Chris Deluzio’s Washington, D.C. office or one of his district offices in Carnegie, PA and Center Township, PA. The application deadlines for each internship class are as follows:

2026 DC Internship Summer Term

General Student Internships

Congressman Deluzio offers paid internships through his PA-17 offices and Washington D.C. office in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Internships are intended for recent high school graduates or other people returning to higher education or seeking a career change. Resident of PA-17 will receive preference. Interns receive a stipend distributed based on total hours worked. 
  

DC Responsibilities

  • Answering constituent phone calls and greeting constituents at the front desk.
  • Categorizing and responding to constituent mail.
  • Drafting letters and cosponsor requests for the Congressman.
  • Taking notes at briefings and hearings.
  • Conducting tours of the Capitol for constituents.
  • Assembling press and news clips.
  • Performing a variety of other duties as assigned, such as conducting legislative research.

District Responsibilities

  • Answering constituent phone calls and greeting constituents at the front desk.
  • Drafting letters and constituent correspondence on behalf of the Congressman
  • Assisting with scheduling and logistics for the district office
  • Assisting the Casework Team on a variety of casework requests involving federal agencies.
  • Performing a variety of other duties as assigned, such as conducting research about the district and attending community events.

Deluzio Summer Communications Internship - Deadline March 31, 2026

 Congressman Deluzio's Comms Team is seeking a dedicated Communications Intern in his Washington D.C. Office for the Summer of 2026. This internship is intended for current undergraduate students, current graduate student, and recent college grads. Preference for applicants with ties to Western Pennsylvania. This position reports to the Staff Assistant and Communications Team and runs for a minimum of eight weeks between May 11-August 28, 2026. Interns receive a stipend distributed based on total hours worked.

 Comms Intern Responsibilities:

  • Office tasks
  • Taking constituent calls and organizing constituent correspondence
  • Drafting press releases or scripts
  • Drafting social media posts
  • Attending meetings, press, or comms-focused events to take photos, video, or help with setup
  • Video brainstorming, filming, editing, and captioning
  • Graphic creation
  • Performing a variety of duties assigned by the Communications Team or the Staff Assistant
