New Numbers: Trump’s Reckless Economic Policies Forcing High Costs on Western PA Families
September 5, 2025
CARNEGIE, PA – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) released new numbers detailing how Donald Trump and House Republicans’ reckless policies are raising costs for families across Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.
This data comes from analysis at the Congressional Budget Office, Joint Committee on Taxation, The Budget Lab at Yale, and Co-Equal using American Community Survey data from the Census Bureau (2021-2023).
- 321,580 households in Congressman Deluzio’s congressional district will have less money to spend because of Trump’s economic policies. That is more than 98% of all households in PA-17.
- On average, these families in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District will lose over $2,050 annually under Trump’s economic policies that were in effect on August 6, 2025.
- According to the Joint Committee on Taxation, while working families across America lose money, people making more than $1 million per year will benefit from more than $130 billion in new tax breaks that are coming online over the next five fiscal years (2027-2033).
The Republican tax scam bill that passed in July raises health care and food costs—which Congressman Deluzio voted against—while non-strategic and chaotic tariffs are driving up the price of everything from groceries to clothes.
