Events Highlighted Focus on Strengthening American Industrial Policy that Grows Western PA Manufacturing and Jobs

CARNEGIE, PA — Congressman Chris Deluzio (D-PA-17) is wrapping up his “Western Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week”—a week where he traveled across Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District visiting sites and meeting with stakeholders that showcase the importance of manufacturing to our national economy and security. He also highlighted his work in Washington to strengthen our nation’s industrial policy in a way that grows good jobs and opportunities here in Western Pennsylvania.

“People in Western PA have long made the stuff that built, defended, and powered America. I know we can supercharge American manufacturing and create solid jobs if Washington can deliver smart, patriotic industrial and trade policies,” said Congressman Deluzio. “The facilities I toured and the people I met this week are right at the heart of that work, and I’ll keep up the fight down in Washington.”

This week, Congressman Deluzio toured the Curtiss Wright facility in Cheswick that manufactures critical components for the U.S. Navy’s fleet of nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, and the Robinson Township-based global headquarters and research and development operations of polymer manufacturer, Covestro. Deluzio also met with natural gas and utility workers to talk about how we can meet our energy needs today and tomorrow.

Congressman Deluzio is a leading voice in Congress pushing to jumpstart U.S. manufacturing. His Make Stuff Here agenda is a three-pronged policy plan to usher in a new manufacturing renaissance—with stronger labor and clean air and water protections than ever before. His Shipbuilding Innovation Act was included in the SHIPS for America Actthe larger bipartisan and bicameral legislative package that takes a comprehensive approach to growing America’s shipbuilding industry and Merchant Marines, including rebuilding the U.S. shipyard industrial base. Deluzio has also been an outspoken critic of President Trump’s chaotic and inconsistent tariff policy—while also clearly laying out a vision for how trade enforcement can be used strategically alongside muscular industrial and pro-worker policies to protect American jobs and consumers.
