Deluzio Vote Statement on H.R. 7217

February 6, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) released the following statement on his “no” vote on H.R. 7217, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act.

“We face tremendous security challenges at home at our southern border and across the globe—including in Israel, Gaza, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific. Yet House Republicans refuse to meet the moment and put country over party. Instead, they are rejecting a comprehensive, bipartisan proposal to tackle these problems in favor of unserious and purely partisan ploys.

"I remain steadfast in supporting Israel’s fight against Hamas terrorists and its right to defend itself, pushing for substantial humanitarian aid to the people in Gaza, and advocating for a two-state solution with sovereignty for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

“Speaker Johnson’s bill plays political games with our national security and interests abroad, abandons the Ukrainians in their fight against Putin, and ignores problems at the southern border. This approach is bad for America and bad for our allies.

"I stand ready to be a part of the solution, not a part of a political stunt.”
