Deluzio Visits Center for Organ Recovery & Education

August 6, 2025

CARNEGIE, PA — Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) recently toured the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) in O’Hara Township. CORE is one of 57 federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organizations in the United States. The visit highlights some of the lifesaving, groundbreaking work happening in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.

“Thank you to the Center for Organ Recovery and Education for the tour of their facility in O’Hara Township. I learned a lot about their work and partnership with over 150 hospitals and health facilities across the region,” said Congressman Deluzio. “It’s encouraging to see this lifesaving work being done in Western Pennsylvania.”

CORE partners with more than 150 hospitals and health care facilities to deliver the gift of life by coordinating the surgical recovery of organs, tissues and corneas for transplantation. They also facilitate the computerized matching of donated organs, tissues and corneas. Congressman Deluzio’s tour comes on the heels of PA Donor Day on August 1st (8/1)—a nod to how eight lives can be saved by just one organ donor.
