Deluzio Statement on Republican Continuing Resolution

March 11, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following today’s vote, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) released the following statement on his vote against the partisan funding bill that the Republican majority pushed through the House of Representatives.

“Democrats like me in Congress were willing to work across party lines on a fiscally responsible funding bill that protected our seniors, veterans, health care, public safety, and more.

“Instead, Republicans (who control all of the federal government) pushed a partisan spending package that would increase deficit spending, hurt a lot of people in Western Pennsylvania, and empower President Trump’s illegal attacks on public programs and funding that Congress has approved.

“The GOP plan breaks promises to my fellow veterans—especially those exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, or other toxic chemicals during their service.

“The Republican bill defunds the police (slashing police grant programs), leaves the Social Security Administration vulnerable to Trump Administration attacks, erases millions in lifesaving research funding to the National Institute of Health (NIH), underfunds the Emergency Food Program, and so much else.

“Let’s be clear: Republican politicians control Congress and the White House. They alone walked away from working with Democrats to protect America’s families, seniors, and veterans and decided to go it alone.

“I will always fight to make life better for the people of Western Pennsylvania, and today that means rejecting this garbage Republican bill.”
