Deluzio Statement on Passage of H.R. 4776

December 18, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Deluzio voted yes on H.R.4776, the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development Act or the SPEED Act. Following the vote, he released the following statement:

“This country needs permitting reform and we needed it yesterday. We need to step up and make the system work better to make sure we can reliably power the country and build it to be stronger and cleaner in the future.

“While I voted yes today in support of this labor-backed bill, I have concerns with the final version that passed the House today. I hope the Senate will act to fix the bill that threatens clean energy industries and the union jobs that they create. I have often said we need an all-of-the-above approach to energy to deliver cheaper and cleaner power, and the current version of this bill puts its thumb on the scale to favor non-renewables. I urge the Senate to strip the anti-energy competition language from the bill, and I hope that the Congress can pass a substantive, bipartisan permitting reform bill into law.”
