Deluzio Shares Support for Biden Administration Diplomatic Work to Broker Israel-Hamas Ceasefire, Free Hostages, Deliver Aid
CARNEGIE, PA — Ahead of a potential Israeli military operation in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, House Armed Services Committee member Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) released the following statement:
“Hamas’ deadly terrorist attacks on October 7th must never happen again. In the face of this violent terrorist organization, I continue to support Israeli efforts to defeat Hamas and protect itself from the threat Hamas poses to Israeli and Gazan civilians and the hostages still being held. Those efforts must also better protect the lives of Palestinian civilians amidst the worsening humanitarian crisis.
“That is why I support the Biden Administration’s work to broker a negotiated ceasefire predicated on the return of Israeli hostages who have been held captive for months. Such a break in the fighting must also provide increased avenues for humanitarian aid into Gaza to serve the millions of Palestinian civilians, so many of whom are suffering tremendously.
“I urge the Biden Administration and other partners to continue their critical diplomatic efforts toward a successful agreement, with strong assurances about Israel’s security. The status quo risks the safety of the remaining hostages, a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and a broadening conflict in the region that threatens America’s interests and Israeli and Palestinian safety. We cannot lose sight of the wider goal of a two-state solution with peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike.”
