Deluzio Secures Two Million for Aspinwall Street Realignment and Upgrades along Allegheny RiverTrail Park
ASPINWALL, PA – Yesterday, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) joined with Aspinwall leaders to celebrate that he secured $2 million in federal funds for important upgrades to better align Brilliant Avenue and the entrance to Allegheny RiverTrail Park. The group touted how the investments will make life better for the community, and Congressman Deluzio presented the municipality with a ceremonial check. At the event, Congressman Deluzio was joined by members of Borough leadership to discuss the project and visit the realignment site.
“I’m proud that I secured $2,000,000 in federal funds to improve and upgrade the community’s entrance to Allegheny RiverTrail Park,” said Congressman Deluzio. “This project will make it safer and easier to enjoy the beautiful waterfront park. I’ll always fight down in Washington to bring home federal money to make life better for all of us in Western PA.”
“The grant announcement is a major step forward, and we’re already working with our partners to ensure the full scope of the project can be funded and delivered,” said Melissa Lang, Aspinwall Borough Manager.
This project will realign Brilliant Avenue in Aspinwall to more easily and safely line up with the entrance to Allegheny RiverTrail Park. One of the borough’s busiest and most challenging corridor, the park entrance is currently accessed mid-block under a railroad trestle between Brilliant and Eastern avenues along Freeport Road. The project, which the Aspinwall Council has been working toward since 2014, project will realign the park entrance as an extension of Brilliant Avenue and expand access to the trail system.
This $2,000,000 award to the Borough of Aspinwall is one of Congressman Deluzio’s community funding project selections for Fiscal Year (FY) 2026. He secured more than $193 million for fourteen projects across his Western Pennsylvania district, earning the title as the U.S. House Democrat who secured the most funding for their district out of the FY 2026 spending bills. He is third out of all U.S. House Members—of which there are 435.
