Deluzio Releases Congressional Report Outlining Impacts of Dangerous Republican-Proposed Health Care Cuts in Pennsylvania
CARNEGIE, PA – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) released a congressional report prepared by the House Energy and Commerce Committee outlining Medicaid’s crucial role in Pennsylvania and the impacts that Republican-proposed cuts could have on Pennsylvanians.
“Republicans control every lever of our federal government, and with that power they are trying to take away healthcare and services from thousands of my constituents,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I am releasing this congressional report today to raise the alarm on how the Republican budget threatens healthcare for nearly forty percent of kids and around 1 in 5 of my constituents, long-term care for millions of seniors and people with disabilities, and our nation’s response to the opioid and overdose crisis.”
Congressman Deluzio represents all of Beaver County and half of Allegheny County. In his district, 18.6% of Allegheny County residents and 21.1% of Beaver County residents count on Medicaid for their healthcare.
The report shares that across the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania:
- 39% of all children rely on Medicaid for health coverage
- 35% of moms giving birth and their newborn babies
- 47.3% of working-age adults with disabilities
- 64% of people living in nursing homes
- ...and much more.
