Deluzio, House Democrats Vote to Stave off Republican Shutdown
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) voted to fund the government through March 14, 2025. Once the funding measure passes the Senate later tonight and is signed by the President, Congress will stave off yet another government shutdown and disruption of federal services. The final vote on the measure was 366 in support to 34 in opposition, with one voting present. All of the votes in opposition were by Republican congressmembers.
Following House passage of the funding bill, Congressman Deluzio released the following statement:
“Today, House Democrats once again delivered the votes needed to avoid a government shutdown that would have hurt a lot of people in Western Pennsylvania and across the country.
“I voted ‘yes’ tonight to keep our troops and federal law enforcement paid, important safety inspections on schedule, federal agencies running, and so much else through mid-March next year.
“Tonight, Democrats showed the country that we remain the party willing to unite to do our duty. That is very different from House Republicans who, while in the majority party, keep falling into disarray and taking us to the brink.
“No matter what, I will always put the people of Western Pennsylvania and our country first.”
