Deluzio Hosts Roundtable Discussion with HHS Secretary Becerra and Western PA Seniors
MOON TWP, PA – On Friday, Congressman Chris Deluzio hosted U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra for a roundtable discussion with local seniors and community leaders. The group convened at Mooncrest Neighborhood Programs, a community organization providing a variety of resources to children and families.
In the roundtable, they discussed the work of HHS and Congressional Democrats to lower healthcare costs. The discussion included impact and implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act, a transformative 2022 law that caps the price of insulin at $35 a month for those on Medicare, limits the amount of monthly out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs that can be charged to Medicare recipients, and much more.
“Lowering healthcare costs and getting folks the medicine they need without breaking the bank—these are the real, tangible savings that matter in the lives of folks across Western PA and the entire nation,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I am glad I could host HHS Secretary Becerra for Friday’s roundtable, connect him with the people and experiences of Western PA, and hear about his Department’s ongoing work to lower healthcare costs for the American people.”
“I’m very proud of the work the Biden-Harris Administration has done to ensure everyone can access the care they need and lower health care costs for all Americans,” said Secretary Becerra.
