Deluzio Focused on Fighting for Lower Costs, Founding Member of New Lowering Utility Bills Caucus

January 26, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17), helped launch the new Congressional Lowering Utility Bills Caucus. This group advocates for policies that make utility bills more affordable and protect households from rising energy costs. At a launch event, he was joined by Congressman Josh Riley (NY-19) who is Chairing the caucus, along with Democratic colleagues from across the country: representatives Ami Bera (CA), Laura Gillen (NY), Maggie Goodlander (NH), Josh Gottheimer (NJ), Glenn Ivey (MD), Mike Levin (CA), Seth Magaziner (RI), John Mannion (NY), Seth Moulton (MA), Chris Pappas (NH), Pat Ryan (NY), Suhas Subramanyam (VA), Gabe Vasquez (NM), and Eugene Vindman (VA)

"People are working hard and playing by the rules, but are still struggling to make ends meet," said Congressman Deluzio (PA-17). "In Washington, Republicans have full control of the House, the Senate, and the White House, but they have failed to bring down costs—especially utility bills, which are rising faster than inflation. Pennsylvania is an energy-producing state, and still my constituents are dealing with rising costs just to keep the lights and heat on this winter. We need to get utility costs under control. I'm proud to be a part of this new Lowering Utility Bills Caucus that is going to take on the profiteering monopolies screwing us over, work to get more power onto the grid, and fight to make life in America less of a ripoff."

Congressman Deluzio, co-Chair of the Monopoly Busters Caucus, is a leading voice in the Congress pushing for stronger antitrust enforcement and taking on the out-of-control corporate power that is ripping off Pennsylvanians and Americans across the country. Last year, Congressman Deluzio questioned the Pennsylvania Bureau of Audits about transparency and accountability over electricity costs. As reported by The American Prospect, he is working on legislation to hold utilities accountable for imposing undue financial burdens on ratepayers.
