Deluzio Celebrates One Billion in Investment into Pennsylvania’s 17th District Infrastructure from Pres. Biden’s Infrastructure Law

November 15, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) marked two years of President Joe Biden’s bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The biggest investment in America’s infrastructure in a generation, since it was signed into law two years ago the IIJA has already infused over $1.07 billion into more than 60 transformative projects in Rep. Deluzio’s Western Pennsylvania district.

“We are finally rebuilding this country’s lousy infrastructure thanks to President Biden’s Infrastructure Law,” said Rep. Deluzio. “That means shovels in the ground, union jobs, and a heck of a lot of investment to make life better for folks in Western Pennsylvania: major improvements to our roads, bridges, airports, locks and dams, and more.”

Some examples of the Infrastructure Law investments in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District include:

  • Upper Ohio Navigation Project/Montgomery Locks & Dam, Monaca, PA: $857 million

  • Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT): $45.6 million ($23.5 million in discretionary funding, $22.1 million in formula funding)

  • Brownfield Remediation in the Borough of Ambridge and Beaver County’s Darlington Brickyard: $1 million ($500,000 each)

  • And many more.

A list of Infrastructure Law funded projects in PA-17 compiled by Congressman Deluzio’s office is available here. NOTE: this list was compiled in November 2023 and does not include statewide funding that is not specifically allocated to entities within Pennsylvania’s 17th District.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is making a big difference all across the Commonwealth. The White House has already announced $13.8 billion of the Infrastructure Law is coming to Pennsylvania, with more than 330 specific projects identified for federal funding.

Since the IIJA became law two years ago, approximately $10 billion has been announced for Pennsylvania transportation investments—roads, bridges, public transit, ports, and airports–and around $657 million has been announced for clean water and water infrastructure in the Commonwealth. More details on the current IIJA funding allocations for Pennsylvania available here.

As of today, more than 706,000 Pennsylvania households are already saving on their monthly internet bill thanks to cost-saving provisions in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Additionally, Pennsylvania received $1.2 billion in Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program funding to connect everyone in the state to reliable highspeed internet. Congressman Deluzio was proud to attend an event in Beaver Falls this year to celebrate this historic funding. Many more projects will be added in the coming months, as funding opportunities become grant awards and as formula funds become specific projects.

The Biden-Harris Administration has already announced nearly $400 billion in funds for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, including over 40,000 specific projects and awards in more than 4,500 communities across America. These investments are creating millions of good-paying jobs, including a record-high number of jobs in the construction sector. More details are available in the White House fact sheet on the two-year anniversary of the IIJA.
