Deluzio Announces Million-Dollar Federal Investment in West View Downtown, Fire Station

May 28, 2024

WEST VIEW, PA – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced he secured a $1,000,000 federal investment in West View Borough’s Downtown revitalization project. Congressman Deluzio directed funding to this project as part of his congressional Community Project Funding requests that were included in the Fiscal Year 2024 spending bills.

At a press event at the West View Municipal Building, joined by Mayor J.R. Henry, Borough Manager Bruce Fromlak, and other members of the Borough Council, Congressman Deluzio presented an oversized million-dollar check to the Borough and took a walking tour in Downtown West View.

During the press event and the tour, the elected officials discussed and surveyed the area designated for improvements. These include safer crosswalks, ADA accessible ramp installation, a feasibility study of the intended site for the expanded West View Volunteer Fire Department station (#3), a new community plaza, and street beautification. Stopping at a small business along Perry Highway, the Congressman Deluzio heard how this revitalization project will support the local economy and community.

“The folks who call West View home want to see their community thrive, and that means shoring up the area’s infrastructure, downtown area, and public safety systems to make them the best they can be,” said Rep. Deluzio. “I am proud to bring home this $1 million federal investment to help improve pedestrian safety, support local small businesses, and invest in the volunteer fire station for the folks who bravely serve the West View community.”

“Our Downtown Revitalization Plan is underway, and this [funding] is certainly going to be the catalyst to keep it going,” said Mayor Henry. “We want to thank Congressman Deluzio for his assistance in obtaining this grant.”

This funding for West View is part of a larger list of federal investments that Congressman Deluzio submitted to the House Appropriations Committee. The funding request was ultimately successful and when the funding measures passed into law in early March, Congressman locked in $15.5 million for 15 projects across Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.
