Deluzio Announces $600,000 for Kennedy Township Park Ahead of Earth Day 2024

April 22, 2024

KENNEDY TWP – Yesterday, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) joined an Earth Day clean-up event at Fairhaven Park to present a check for $600,000 to Kennedy Township leaders. This investment will fund recreational and safety upgrades in Kennedy Township’s Fairhaven Park. Congressman Deluzio directed funding for this project as part of congressional “Community Project Funding” included in the Fiscal Year 2024 spending bills

“In Washington, I fight hard to make everyday life at home better for us in Western PA—and in that spirit I am proud to announce just ahead of Earth Day that I secured $600,000 for upgrades at Fairhaven Park in Kennedy Township,” said Rep. Deluzio. “This money will fund improvements to a recreational trail, add more lighting, build a safe and exciting new playground structure for kids, and enhance security with more security cameras. Fairhaven Park is already such a wonderful place for the community, and I’m thrilled I could secure this funding to make the park even better.”

Kennedy Township Manager, Gregory Clarke said, “With the appreciated support of Congressman Chris Deluzio, upgrades to Kennedy Twp. Fairhaven Park, will provide active and passive, recreational green space opportunities, contributing to the health and wellness to our local communities.”

This $600,000 federal investment in Fairhaven Park will help Kennedy Township construct and maintain a recreational walking path, exercise equipment, a new playground, and ensure the entire area is well-lit and kept secure by security cameras.

This project is one of 15 projects that Congressman Deluzio added into the annual Fiscal Year 2024 government funding bills. Totaling $15.5 million in investments, these 15 projects are allocated to 14 communities across Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.
