August 5, 2024

CARNEGIE, PA — Today, Congressman Deluzio announced a $350 million defense department contract with Thermo Fisher Scientific Co. LLC, a life science and clinical research company. Specifically, the contract is for medical and laboratory equipment and supplies for the Defense Logistic Agency’s Troop Supports Electric Catalog.

“This five-year contract is a win-win: boosting the local economy with a significant federal investment here in Western PA while supporting our military’s medical supply chain,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I’m glad to see this contract awarded to Thermo Fisher Scientific and will continue to do everything I can to support this region, our servicemembers, and our critical military supply chains.”

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) provides logistical, acquisition, and technical support for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, as well as other federal agencies and allies. DLA is the third largest agency within the Department of Defense. It is the centralized body with jurisdiction over defense procurement. DLA utilizes the Electronic Catalog (ECAT) to streamline practices and expand the range of options.

Thermo Fisher Scientific has three facilities within Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. This $350 million contract will fuel five years of work based out of the Findlay Township location.
