Deluzio Announces $182,000 in Federal Funding for Public Safety & Victims Services in Western PA
CARNEGIE, PA – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that $182,422 in public safety federal grant funding is coming to locations across Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. Three awards equaling $182,422 are going to the Scott Township Police Department, Crisis Center North, Inc., and the Alle-Kiski Area Hope Center to improve public safety and support crime victims.
“I am glad to announce these federal grants that will fund important and lifesaving services for crime victims across Allegheny County,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I will keep up the fight to ensure that every municipality across the 17th District has the resources and support they need to build safer communities.”
The funding was awarded by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) at their December Commission meeting using federal funds from the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program, the Federal Victims of Crime Act, the Crime Victims Services and Compensation program, and the Victims of Juvenile Offender program.
The grants awards are as follows:
- Scott Township Police Department—$148,680 to hire a full-time social worker to provide expert crisis intervention support in cases involving mental health, addiction, homelessness, and several other complex social situations.
- Crisis Center North, Inc.—$18,580 to continue providing magisterial and legal services to victims of domestic violence and their loved ones in northern and western Allegheny County.
- Alle-Kiske Area Hope Center—$15,162 to provide Rights and Services Act (RASA)-supported services to victims of domestic violence.
The Trump Administration’s efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, the courts are involved in determining whether many of these funding freezes will continue permanently or go on pause. Congressman Deluzio's office will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure federal funding keeps flowing to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. Recipients of federal grants with issues accessing lawfully appropriated funds, should reach out to Congressman Deluzio's office at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov.
