Deluzio Announces $10.5 Million in Federal Funding for New Pittsburgh International Airport Terminal

June 18, 2025

CARNEGIE, PA — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that $10.5 million in new federal grant funding has been awarded to the Allegheny County Airport Authority. The funding will support the final phases of constructing Pittsburgh International Airport’s new terminal—a $1.5 billion modernization project to update the decades-old concourse.

“The Pittsburgh airport’s new terminal will be an economic engine for Western Pennsylvania and will make life better and easier for all of us when we catch a flight. I’m proud to help bring home over $10 million in new federal funds to get the airport modernization project across the finish line,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I can’t wait to join the ribbon cutting and see this investment come to life.”

The $10,505,961 in funding was awarded in two separate grants by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The funds will support some of the final phases of the project, including internal finishes for the new landslide terminal such as railings, glass partitions, door frames, metal wall panels, flooring, lighting, a fire alarm system, and the public notification system.

The new terminal will feature more efficient operations for passengers, improved security, and a sustainable design. The project is nearing completion and is expected to be open by the end of 2025. PIT has also received more than $129 million in funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act since it passed into law in 2021.

The Trump Administration’s efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, the courts have paused many of these freezes. However, Congressman Deluzio will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure this congressionally-authorized funding will keep flowing to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. Recipients of federal grants who have been notified that this funding is no longer available, or are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, should share your concerns with Congressman Deluzio’s office at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov.
