Congressman Deluzio Successfully Secures $6.8 Million for Western PA in U.S. House 2026 Funding Bill

January 23, 2026

Spending legislation with Deluzio’s eight transportation & community development projects now goes to U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that eight more of his requested community projects successfully received more than $6.8 million in federal funding in the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development spending bill passed yesterday by the U.S. House of Representatives. The legislation now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration. The spending bills must be passed there and signed into law by President Trump in order for this funding to be distributed to the community.

This success builds on another recent Deluzio win. Earlier this month, four of Congressman Deluzio’s community projects, including the modernization of the Montogomery Locks and Dam along the Ohio River in Beaver County, received more than $185 million in funding that has since been passed by the U.S. Senate and awaits the President’s signature into law. Deluzio remains the U.S. House Democrat who secured the most community project funding in 2026 House spending bills.

"A key part of my job is bringing back federal funding to Western Pennsylvania—and today’s wins are big news for these communities looking to invest in their future,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I fought hard to secure these millions of dollars of funding for Western Pennsylvania, and am proud to advance these federal investments in local transportation and community development projects that will make life better. I'll always go to bat for our region down in Washington.”

Congressman Deluzio selected these community projects after comprehensive outreach to local groups and stakeholders. The community project funding process is coupled with eligibility, ethics, and transparency requirements.

The $6,888,581 in funding breaks down across the following eight projects:

  1. $2,000,000 for the Borough of Aspinwall to create a safer intersection by realigning Brilliant Ave at Freeport Rd and the entrance to Allegheny RiverTrail Park–formerly known as Aspinwall Riverfront Park

  2. $1,338,581 for the Borough of Crafton to implement a streetscaping and pedestrian safety project along Crafton Blvd, from Noble Ave to Baldwick Rd

  3. $850,000 for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to replace the existing Verona Bridge in the Municipality of Penn Hills, located on Verona Rd between Mt. Carmel Rd and Lincoln Rd.

  4. $850,000 for Allegheny County to extend Panhandle Trail by about 3.4 miles by acquiring and converting inactive Pittsburgh & Ohio Central Railroad property from Genesse and Wyoming, Inc. (G&W) in the Borough of Carnegie

  5. $850,000 for Mt. Lebanon Municipality to upgrade and expand their existing community recreation center, focusing on accessibility upgrades

  6. $500,000 for Churchill Borough to build an all-inclusive, fully accessible playground

  7. $250,000 for the Borough of Sewickley to implement the Sewickley Road Safety Improvement Project, which aims to monitor and eliminate roadways vulnerable to landslides

  8. $250,000 for Ben Avon Borough to install a rooftop solar photovoltaic system on a borough-owned building

While the above spending bills continue to work their way through the legislative process, Congressman Deluzio is celebrating Western PA funding that he secured and has been signed into law. Last week, Deluzio joined Ambridge Borough leaders and community members to present a ceremonial check for more than $1 million to help build a new Ambridge Borough Recreational Center. Congressman Deluzio also secured $200,000 to upgrade Tarentum’s water treatment plant and pump house.

Congressman Deluzio’s office has already brought home $4.8 billion in federal funds to the congressional district, and he will keep up the fight to bring home resources to Western Pennsylvania.
