Congressman Deluzio Announces $1.2 Million for New Recreation Center, Water Treatment System

CARNEGIE, PA – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that two of his requested community projects successfully received more than $1.2 million in federal funding. The Ambridge Borough Recreational Center in Beaver County will receive $1,015,000, and $200,000 will help finance Tarentum’s water treatment plant and pump house upgrades in the A-K Valley. The funding was approved on November 12, 2025.

"A key part of my job fighting for Western PA is bringing back federal funding. I’ll work with anyone down in Washington and back here at home to make that happen,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I’m proud that this federal funding will help bring better recreation spaces to Ambridge and a stronger water system to Tarentum.” 

Congressman Deluzio helped secure $1,015,000 in federal funding for the Ambridge Borough Recreational Center, which will repurpose a former steel mill brownfield site into a regional asset that will promote economic development and provide recreation opportunities for surrounding communities. The facility plans include basketball, pickleball, and volleyball courts; batting cages; basketball shooting machines; a mini shooting gallery for volleyball, futsal, and basketball; a turf field; and multipurpose fields. It will also host sports tournaments and other services like health screenings, educational programs, and job training programs. 

Deluzio also helped secure $200,000 in federal funding for the Tarentum Water treatment plant and pump house upgrade project, which will support critical mechanical and electrical upgrades at the municipal water plant. This project modernizes the main pump house by installing smart variable-speed pumps to improve energy efficiency and flow control, replacing aging water lines to ensure reliability and reduce water loss, and upgrading outdated electrical systems to meet current safety and operational standards. These improvements will help improve service delivery to residents and will strengthen long-term infrastructure resilience. 

Congressman Deluzio will continue to push to fund his other 2026 requested community projects. His office has already brought home more than $4.6 billion in federal funds, and he will keep up the fight to bring home resources to Western Pennsylvania.
