Congressman Deluzio Announces $685,000 Federal Grant to Upgrade Dormont Park

August 15, 2025

CARNEGIE, PA — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that the National Park Services has awarded $685,100 to upgrade Dormont Park. The grant will support park improvements, including constructing pedestrian walkways, parking areas, and stormwater management, and installing play equipment and landscaping.

“Every community should have a safe place to get together and relax with neighbors, and this funding will help deliver that for Dormont,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I’ll keep working to bring federal money home to Western PA to make life better and strengthen our community. I’m looking forward to seeing the brand-new Dormont Park once this project is done!”

“On behalf of Dormont Borough, thank you Congressman Deluzio for his work to secure these grant funds. This project is important to our entire community and having these funds awarded to the borough moves us even closer to celebrating a new playground and all the amenities that come with this investment in our park,” said Jennifer Mazzocco, President of Dormont Council.

The grant was awarded to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which will coordinate directly with Dormont Borough on the project. Funding came through the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which helps to improve outdoor recreation spaces throughout the nation. The program works in partnership with federal, state and local efforts to protect our public land and to provide the tools that communities need to meet their diverse conservation and recreation needs.

The Trump Administration’s efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, courts are considering or have paused many of these freezes. However, Congressman Deluzio will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure this congressionally-authorized funding continues going to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. If you are the recipient of a federal grant and have been notified that this funding is no longer available to you or are experiencing other issues accessing your lawfully appropriated funds, please share your concerns with Congressman Deluzio’s office at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov.
