Congressman Deluzio Announces $150,000 for Beaver Valley Regional Police Department
Federal Funding Will Support Ongoing Regionalization of Four Beaver County Police Depts.
CENTER TOWNSHIP, PA — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced $150,000 in federal funding to support the Beaver Valley Regional Police Department’s (BVRPD) ongoing regionalization efforts. BVRPD—formed by the merging of the police departments for the Boroughs of Baden, Conway, and Freedom and Rochester Township—will use the funding for costs associated with the startup of the new consolidated department, including personnel, new uniforms, and other supplies.
“First and foremost, we’ve got to have safe communities, and that means making sure the brave men and women of law enforcement have what they need to protect and serve,” said Congressman Deluzio. “I’m proud that federal funds can help get the new Beaver Valley Regional Police Department up and running for the good folks in the Boroughs of Baden, Conway and Freedom and Rochester Township.”
The grant funding originates from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program—the leading source of federal law enforcement funding to state and local jurisdictions. The funds were passed through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), which is the agency that recently awarded the grant through its Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
In 2023, the Boroughs of Baden, Conway and Freedom merged their police departments to form the Beaver Valley Regional Police Department. On September 1, 2024, the regionalized department expanded to include Rochester Township, and now jointly serves and protects approximately 10,215 residents, businesses and schools in an area of roughly 8.1 square miles.
