Congressman Chris Deluzio Named to Armed Services Committee for the 118th Congress

Will use membership on powerful committee to strengthen the national defense and support Americans and their families
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced his appointment to the House Armed Services Committee for the 118th Congress. This committee is responsible for funding and oversight of the Department of Defense (DoD) and the United States Armed Forces, as well as substantial areas of the Department of Energy.
“Membership on the House Armed Services Committee is an awesome responsibility that I don’t take lightly,” said Congressman Deluzio. “We owe it to the American people to have a military equipped to meet the threats of today and tomorrow, while avoiding future entanglement in dangerous, forever wars. I plan to focus on strengthening our competitive posture with the People’s Republic of China, reinvigorating our industrial base to ensure competition and readiness, and making sure our military personnel, their families, and the civilian workforce have what they need to accomplish the mission.”
Congressman Deluzio brings his own military experience to the committee. A U.S. Naval Academy graduate, he was commissioned as an active-duty Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy. Congressman Deluzio’s military service included three deployments, including a tour of duty with a U.S. Army Civil Affairs unit in Iraq. He is also a member of the bipartisan ‘For Country’ Caucus and will fight for service members and military families.
Congressman Deluzio has also been appointed to the House Veterans Affairs Committee this Congress.
