Congressman Chris Deluzio Statement on Relaxed Solar Tariffs, Protecting Domestic Manufacturing

February 3, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) shared the following statement after signing as a co-sponsor to the Bipartisan Congressional Review Act Resolution to Protect American Solar Manufacturing Jobs. This bill comes as a response to the Administration’s decision to relax tariffs against Chinese solar panel imports despite the Department of Commerce’s findings that Chinese manufacturers of solar panels are breaking U.S. trade laws.

Congressman Deluzio delivered the following statement after co-sponsoring the bill:

“Bad trade deals with China were a gut punch to American manufacturing,” said Congressman Deluzio. “We’ve seen it firsthand here in Western Pennsylvania. Now, China is being allowed to dodge trade laws to export solar panels to the U.S., threatening our domestic solar industry, without penalty. That needs to end. That’s why I am proud to co-sponsor Congressman Dan Kildee's legislation to protect America’s solar industry and the workers who make it possible.”
