Congressman Deluzio Celebrates $1.2 Million in Federal Grants to Three Western PA Dairy Farmers
CARNEGIE, PA — Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) celebrated the award of $1,254,169 in federal funding to three dairy farms in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. The funding will support new equipment and infrastructure projects to modernize and boost Western PA milk production at Turner Dairy Farms ($750,000), Broadrun Farms (previously known as Caldwell Farms—$43,451), and Brunton Dairy ($460,718)—which suffered a devastating fire in 2023.
“Pennsylvania cows make the best milk,” said Congressman Deluzio. “Our dairy farmers work hard to provide fresh, healthy milk and dairy products. I will always work to bring home federal funding, and I’m proud to see this money help local dairy farmers modernize their equipment and facilities.”
The funding comes through Pennsylvania’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program—a cooperative agreement with U.S. Department of Agriculture. The program provides dollar-for-dollar matching grants to support food processing, distribution, and aggregation from multiple farms to help meet demand for local, seasonal, and fresh food.
The Trump Administration’s efforts to freeze funding and pause federal grants has created significant uncertainty for grantees, varying by agency and program. As of now, the courts have paused many of these freezes. However, Congressman Deluzio will continue to monitor these developments and fight to make sure this congressionally-authorized funding continues going to projects that make life better for Western Pennsylvanians. Recipients of federal grants who have been notified that this funding is no longer available or are experiencing other issues accessing lawfully appropriated funds, are encouraged to share their concerns with Congressman Deluzio’s office at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov.
